Punta Gorda Airport Announces New Air Center General Manager
PUNTA GORDA, FL (November 4, 2021) – The Charlotte County Airport Authority (CCAA) announces that Deron Somerset Webb has joined the Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) as its Fixed Base Operator (FBO) General Manager. Deron will work under Gary E. Duncan, Director of Airport Operations/Projects, and have oversight over all commercial fueling and all operations at the new PGD Air Center planned to open in Spring 2022.
Deron has more than two decades of aviation experience that includes management of Sheltair Aviation in Fort Lauderdale and Signature Flight Support in Orlando. Deron has also worked in charter operations management, aviation consulting, resort and marina management.
The Air Center General Manager is a new position that was created to manage the new 13,000 square-foot facility that is the focal point of the airport’s aviation expansion area, referred to as the PGD AviEx. The Air Center will house FBO operations, meeting and event space, a restaurant and bar, leasable office suites, pilot lounge and aircraft parking on a 510,000-square-foot ramp. Plans for a new bulk storage hangar, corporate hangars, T-hangars, taxiway and taxilane improvements are also underway in the PGD AviEx.
Deron has served in nearly every facet of FBO management, from safety training, marketing and facilities management to fueling and oversight of large special events. Deron is a U.S. Air Force Veteran who studied Business Administration and received his commercial pilot’s instrument license, although not currently active.
